It was a good weekend - a mix of relaxation and busy. I have not been sleeping well but managed to sleep in a bit on Saturday morning then took the dog to the vet for his check up and shot. Poor dog does not handle the shots - or the vet visit - very well. He stresses out and sheds like crazy. and while he was very good for the vet, he always has a reaction to the shots. Nothing too bad - he becomes lethargic, sore and gets a slight fever. This time he also had chills.
We spent a bit of Saturday afternoon looking at new doors and storm doors for our front. We had also planned on looking at railings as we are adding on a front porch this fall - but the place was only open until noon.
Sunday I was up early, did grocery shopping and some cooking. I tend to cook for the week on Sundays. This time I also tried my hand at making halupki - or cabbage rolls. We always have them for our family reunion. My aunt makes them. But she is in her 70s and I've offered to make them for next year's reunion. Granted I have not made any since I was in high school and helped my grandmother - but I am a pretty adventurous cook. They turned out pretty darn good if I do say so myself.
Then we had a visit from our son and his family. They all came in the morning then my DIL and the baby headed to a baby shower. Oh what a day it was - full of tea parties, flower picking, watermelon eating, playing in water, bubblemaking kind of day. My DIL came back just in time for dinner on the deck and lots of playing until the lack of naps caught up and there were near meltdowns. but all was wonderful.
This is how Miss A showed up - backpack full of goodies and a wagonful of "friends" - which she did not touch the whole time she was here.
Here are the two girls - chasing bubbles around the back yard. Oh the giggles!
Life is good!
