This weekend was much calmer, more normal than the past few.
We spent an early Saturday morning on the deck enjoying the cool morning and some coffee before starting our day. It was a nice way to start - hubby with a book on his kindle and me with my knitting - listening and watching the birds who were very active.
Then we ran some errands - Home Depot for some mulch and Costco for some food. While I love the deals at Costco I secretly despise the crowds.
Back home we did some yard work - I weeded and mulched and hubby mowed and edged. We should have traded jobs because by the end of putting out 8 bags of mulch my knee was screaming. I should have listened to my hubby and let him at least help with the mulch.
We watched a bit of World Cup soccer - he more than me. Grilled burgers and veggies for dinner.
Sunday - cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping. then some knitting and some blocking of my secret knitting project. Since I am sure none of my relatives read this blog I will share my secret - I have knit a pile of small projects - scarves, hats, cowls, etc - to take along to my family reunion on Saturday. Everyone can pick something to take home. I have one more cowl to finish, some more blocking and some ends to weave in. Then I can pick a project that is for ME!
I also bought some sweet cherries at a local farmstand - I love when they are in season. They bring back some many wonderful memories of picking cherries from my grandparents' tree with my sister and my cousins. Then eating them while all 4 of us rocked in the hammock. Such wonderful memories!
We watched some more soccer and grilled again for dinner. Sunday started out overcast and humid but as teh day went on the sun came out, the breeze picked up and the humidity dropped. It was a wonderful end to the day. But I hear it will be short lived as this coming weeks is supposed to be hot and humid.
Have a good week! Looking forward to a long holiday weekend coming up!
