This week I traveled for work. Nothing too exciting. My husband regularly travels to Jacksonville FL and Pittsburgh for work. Our oldest son gets to travel to Chicago, Las Vegas, Portland, NYC - for twice a year conferences. Me - I get to go to exciting places like Erie, Greensburg and Scranton.
This week I spent a few days in Greensburg and then two days in Pittsburgh. Weds morning I woke up to this in Greensburg:
After a sunny but cold day there on Tuesday they got about two inches of snow overnight. Enough snow to cause a number of accidents along my drive to our program office. I did enjoy the quiet evenings in the hotel - curled up with tea, knitting and a few podcasts to listen to.
Weds afternoon I drove to Pittsburgh. I stayed at the Westin and had great views of the city from my hotel.
One of the other perks of the hotel location - other than it was a short walk to our program office - was the close proximity of some really great restaurants. The first night we ate at a rather upscale place - NineOnNine - the food was fabulous but I blew my per diem - big time.
Thursday evening I was on my own - my boss had left and my co-worker was meeting two old friends for dinner - and while I was invited to join them I declined. Sometimes it is awkward to be the odd man out. So I headed out to dinner on my own - something I rarely do. I enjoyed a burger sans bun and a local beer - Big Hop IPA - at a local pub. Loud crowd - hockey team was in town.
I am such a homebody - so being away all week is tiring. I should be out of the city by 1 pm today and then have a 3.5 hour drive home.
And I will be home for a day and then my husband is off for a week for a work trip. Too bad we can't synchronize our schedules better.
