Today a friend and I went to 'yarn camp' at Lancaster Yarn Shop. They were offering free yarn classes every day this week. Today was a first time fair isle hat class. It was a lot of fun - although there were several ladies who struggled to even get the hat cast on which led to the class dragging at times.
Here is a picture of my hat in progress:
We used Lamb's Pride Wool. I chose a deep blue and lime green. The pattern along with two skeins of the yarn will make two hats - although you need to alternate what is the dominant color between the hats. The color combinations every picked were so fun! One technique Wendy the owner of LYS showed us for choosing colors that work together was to use a kaleidoscope to look at colors together. It really helped to see how to pick colors that complemented. She sells small ones in her shop - inexpensive ones with a cardboard tube that cost about $7. It was really helpful.
