We had a great weekend - busy as usual but we fit in quite a bit. We both did a bit of work on Saturday then headed off for some errands to get the last few items needed for next week's wedding. I found a silver purse that I love and hubby bought a new tie. We also picked up a few items to make the favors for the rehearsal dinner. More on this later this week.
On our tooling around town I mentioned maybe we should stop by Troeg's for a beer. Troeg's is a wonderful brewery in our area. We haven't gone lately since I am trying to stay off wheat products but I really wanted to try their new Triple Mango IPA and decided to go for it and deal with the consequences. The beer was fabulous although with a high alcohol content (11.8%!) Since we both had not eaten anything yet we ordered the Rosemary Brown Butter Popcorn to snack on...oh my so good! And surprisingly enough the beer did not cause me stomach issues.
We headed home to the AC as it was unbearably hot and humid - it felt like we were breathing molasses the air was so thick. I knit feverishly on my wedding shawl - almost there - and hubby was talking to a cousin he met online. The young man lives very near us and yet we have never met this branch of the family.
He was participating in an art show at another nearby brewery so off we headed to Bube's Brewery to meet Todd and see his work - oh and maybe dinner. We ended up buying a painting, staying for dinner in their biergarten where the temps had dropped slightly and there was a wonderful breeze. No beer for me just a southwest turkey burger sans bun and lots of fresh brewed iced tea. Yum!
On the drive home the sky was a beautiful color - reds and pinks. I took a picture as we drove - slightly blurry and not quite as vibrant as the real thing. I was hoping I could capture a better picture when we got home but that quickly it had faded to dusk.
Sunday included some more work for me, knitting (it's done and blocking!), a round of golf for hubby and then some idle time watching the British Open. Later we watched the USA soccer game with our nephew and grilled.
A wonderful weekend!
