2013 - hopefully lucky '13!
(a cranberry pomegranate mimosa and a home brewed IPA - making the New Year's celebration last)
I spent the day cleaning out my tiny craft studio. It was a mess! The room is so small and is tucked in under the eaves in our small cottage home. I had too much 'stuff' in there - too much paper, too many magazines, too many remnants of Christmas shopping and wrapping.
I spent a good portion of the day cleaning out, purging, reorganizing. It still needs another day of work in there. I have a rather large armoire which holds bins of yarn - lots and lots of yarn. It is way too big for the room. I had asked for - and received - a much smaller storage unit for Christmas. It is one of those Closetmaid bin storage units with fabric drawers. Hubby can't move the armoire himself so it will have to wait until one of the boys are home to help.
But I was able to get the Christmas wrapping things put away, break down the boxes for recycling, sort through magazines and knitting patterns. I hate to admit how many bags of stuff I purged. Some to donate - books, extra yarn, etc. Some to trash. I organized my knitting needles - and found way too many duplicates. That is what happens when you are not organized - you - or at least I - just order another set. Sigh... But now I know what I have and they are all neatly organized into several organizers - all labeled - so I can see at a glance what I have.
One of my issues is that I have too many hobbies - I am an avid knitter, love to make jewelry, sew, make cards, have scrapbooking supplies - all in this tiny room. Yet I am unwilling to give up any of these creative outlets.
I found a stash of magazines today - called Artful Blogging. I found a great quote in one of the articles.
"Creativity is inventing, experimenting, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and having fun." ~ Mary Lou Cook
