I can't believe it is February already. We have had a cold winter with lots of blustery days.
I have kept busy with projects - projects on organizing my house and my office - really my life. There are so many times I let the clutter take over my life and then get overwhelmed by it all. I am slowly working on each piece and trying to gain control.
My office and work is slowly getting organized. We had some major moves going on at work. My organization owns an old brownstone in the city and we have 5 employees here and rent to two legal services organizations. One of our rentors asked for all of their offices to be on one floor which meant some major changes to the fiscal offices - my offices. We spent 6 weeks going through old files and purging and reorganizing. We had shredders in and they shredded 1600 lbs of old files! Amazing! The things I found....
When I received my promotion back in August I had the option to move into the old controller's office - which at the time was a disorganized mess. I opted to stay in my smaller corner office with two walls of windows. Because the building is old the ceilings are very high which means the windows are about 7 feet tall - flooding the room with light. While the view is not great - tall office buildings and parking garage outside - the light is wonderful.
Because we are a non-profit our furniture is mostly hand-me-downs and old. I have made the best of it and have finally started bringing in some items to personalize the room. I bought a print in December while at a conference in New Orleans of a street scene done in pen and ink and framed it and hung it up at work. It looks great and was a great deal - even with the frame.
I also brought in some framed photos of flowers from my garden. They add such wonderful color to an otherwise drab office. My desk looks a little disorganized here...hmmmm...maybe I still need some more organization.....
Next up for my office is to make a knitted pillow or two for my office chairs. Something fun and colorful.
