After finishing a rather mindless project of stockinette I decided it was time to try something new. I have always loved stranded projects but never tried any. But after seeing these mittens - Strago Mittens - by Brooklyntweed I decided to give it a go. They looked simple enough and I loved the chevron design.
So last night I cast on using two lovely colors of a new to me yarn - Quince & Co Lark - in Honey and Egret. The yarn is lovely to knit with - very springy. After a false start on the first line of the chart I am slowly working through the first mitten. It took me a few rows to figure out how to switch from one yarn to the next without having a tangled mess but finally have it down. the hardest part has been the increasing for the thumb gusset in pattern - trying to figure out how to "M1" in a color when that color was not used the line before...if that makes sense...but so far it is working.
I am loving the colors I chose - the Honey is a golden color with a greenish cast to it and the Egret is a creamy color. The contrast between the two yarns is working well with the pattern.
I really like the Brooklyn Tweed patterns I have used. I have knit several in the past few months - all requiring me to use charts which I have shied away from. But I have been happy with the charts which are clear and easy to read. So far I have made Guernsey Wrap (my absolute favorite to wear), Autumn Leaves and Dryad. I still need to graft the ends of the Autumn Leaves - something I have been procrastinating about. And I have not taken pictures of any of the projects other than a really bad camera phone picture of Dryad. But I would definitely recommend his patterns.
