I love to knit. Everyone who knows me knows I love yarn. I walk into a yarn store and touch all the wonderful textures and hold them to my face. I have an armoire that is nearly full of yarn. And I am a fairly novice knitter. I do scarves, hats, felted purses, baby blankets. But I still covet beautiful yarn.
I learned to knit from my grandmother. My mother doesn't knit. My sister doesn't knit. None of my friends knit.
This Christmas I received a present from my mom - one that surprised the heck out of me. She - who does not knit - went to a knitting shop near her called Knitting Up a Storm and bought me a wonderful book on felted purses - one I had bought for someone else for an on-line swap but didn't own - and some absolutely beautiful yarn. Sometimes you can give a grown up a present that is still a surprise.
