I am usually a person who likes Winter. I love being snowed in and comfy in my house while the winds howl outside.
But this Winter is different. I can't wait for Spring to come. I can't wait for warmer weather to get out and clean up my gardens and make some changes. I want to add more structure to my tiny yard...adding in some shrubs and small trees as well as some actual structure...as in a pergola over a planned patio and some fencing.
As I have said our yard is tiny. I try to keep my gardens small as well...leaving a grassy area in the back yard for the dog. This year I would like to add a picket fence around the rest of the back yard so the dog can safely roam without a leash. Our neighbor is not going to happy about this because he has an ugly boxwood hedge that he wants access to to trim. Up until now we have followed his wishes but I think this year this will change.
I also want to add some shrubs and a River Birch. Because of the way power lines come int our house we are limited as to where we can plant trees but I am thinking my perennial beds need some structure...hence the addition of some shrubs.
We are going to the PA Garden Expo tomorow and I hope to come howe with some great ideas. I plan on taking my camera to capture some of the ideas. I am afraid that this will make me long even more for Spring!
