Along with working with a trainer I have also embarked on a Whole 30. This is something I've wanted to try for a while hoping it would get me back to the good eating habits I had a year ago when I was losing weight and feeling great.
It is a pretty restrictive way of eating - no dairy, no grains, no alcohol, no sugar. It really gets you back to very basic while foods. No cheese or wine for a month will be hard!
My excuses in the past to not starting this was always being worried about an upcoming event. There was always a party or picnic where I din't want to miss out on the food or drinks.
But I started this on Tuesday, Aug. 11 - one day prior to my birthday and the 30 days will include several parties and a labor day picnic. But you know what - it's only 30 days. I can do anything for 30 days. I should be grateful I am able to try this.
The first day was interesting - mostly because we had just come back from vacation and the cupboards are pretty bare. But I pulled together a salad and some fruit and a bit of chicken for lunch. I unfortunately skipped breakfast - which you are not supposed to do. Dinner was a veggie/egg scramble with half a sliced avocado and cherry tomatoes. This combo by the way was wonderful!
I planned a bit better for today - sliced cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers along with half an avocado for breakfast drizzled with s bit of olive oil and white balsamic vinegar. Yes - veggies for breakfast. Lunch will be a big salad with hard boiled egg and a plum. Dinner is still up in the air. It's my birthday so I am not cooking - either my hubby is cooking or we are going out for dinner.
I hope to get to the grocery store soon. And next week will be on my own so I hope to try some great new recipes.
